How it Works
Modern passports, also called e-passports, come equipped with contactless RFID chips built-in. Companies can use our NFC Chip Reader SDKs to read the key data contained, access the passport photo and authenticate the document.
Read Key Data
NFC Chips in ePassports contain key pieces of personal information that has been validated at the point of creation by the issuing authorities.
Authenticate the Document
In order to access the information on the Chip, key elements of data need to be matched to the record on the chip. Because the data stored on the chip have been digitally signed, they can be tampered with.
Access the Passport Photo
NFC Chips contain a high-resolution version of the passport photo that can be used for more accurate biometric matching.
How to use it
Scan Machine Readable Zone
User scans the Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) at bottom of passport to unlock RFID chip.
Locate & Scan the RFID Chip
Chip Reader SDK automatically begins data transmission once a chip has been detected.
User scans the MRZ at bottom of passport to unlock RFID chip.
Data has successfully been transmitted from the chip to the device.
